UPDATE 11/10/21

The Yamantaka volumes were completed today. We have now begun the third volume, which includes the longevity and Chenrezig practices.

The reading transmissions will continue each weekday until all of the Barway Dorje Terma transmissions are completed, which may take several weeks. In the event there’s a change to the transmission schedule, an email notification and Facebook post will be sent out.

The Zoom link will be the same one used today. For security reasons, the Zoom link is not posted on the website and on social media. If you would like the link, please email debbie@kunzang.org .

Clarification From Lama Tratop About the Schedule for Reading Transmission of the Entire Barway Dorje Terma

In response to questions and concerns we have received, Lama Tratop has conveyed the following information.

The current and upcoming schedules for the reading transmission (lung) of the complete terma of Barway Dorje are firm because the schedules are being mandated by Tulku Tsoknyi Ozer Rinpoche, the requester of the reading transmission.

The reading transmission was originally intended to be for a small closed group, but Lama Tratop decided to open the group to anyone interested so they may receive the blessing.

It is not necessary for anyone to feel that they need to receive the entire reading transmission. Lama Tratop explained that there is no difference in the amount of blessings received based on whether one receives the entire transmission or only a small part of the transmission. There are great blessings for anyone who wants to tune in to the Zoom event, even if only for five minutes. Lama explained that full-length reading transmissions like this are often given at monasteries and many people come in just for an hour or a day; this is very traditional.

Special Note:  We could always request a KPL event similar to this in the future where we would meet on the weekend. Also, Lama is happy to give reading transmissions via Zoom for whatever practice people are doing.

“I care very much about all of you and that means, among other things, that I hope that everything will go very well for all of you in every way; that all of you will achieve final liberation from samsara; that all of you will attain the state of realization exemplified by the Kagyu siddhas of the past.”

          — Bardor Tulku Rinpoche

Barom Kagyu Tulku Tsoknyi Ozer Rinpoche of Kyodrak Monastery has requested Lama Tashi Topgyal (aka Lama Tratop) to confer the reading transmission of the entire terma of Barway Dorje, and Lama Tratop has agreed.

Guru Rinpoche and Treasure – What are Termas?
In Tibetan Buddhism a number of lineages can be traced back to Guru Rinpoche, the historical Buddhist master who established Buddhism in Tibet. Guru Rinpoche, who himself attained complete buddhahood, concealed many teachings for future generations. In fact, most of these teachings were concealed by Guru Rinpoche’s principal disciple and consort, the Yeshe Tsogyal. The teachings she concealed, called treasures or termas, have been and will be discovered over the centuries by destined meditation masters known as treasure revealers or tertons. Once discovered, treasure teachings are practiced and preserved as they are passed down from teacher to student—often through a line of incarnations of the treasure revealer.

Termas are considered especially relevant and powerful in the conferring of blessing in this present age. It is thought that terma teachings are custom-made for the time they are to be discovered and disseminated.
