Fierce Compassion:
The Role of Wrath on the Buddhist Path

Rather than angry or hostile, the nature of wrathful deities in Vajrayana Buddhism is intense compassion, wisdom, and power — a form of “tough love” that aims to swiftly liberate suffering. In Tibet, Guru Rinpoche subdued negativity and transformed obstructors into dharma protectors, creating conditions that enabled Vajrayana Buddhism to flourish in the Land of Snow.

This teaching was given at Kunzang Choling Phoenix in January 2015.
