Letter to Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche on the Occasion of Opening
of Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery, Namo Buddha

Om Svasti!
The banner of your auspicious fame flutters in every direction.
The white parasol of your auspicious fame is raised in every direction.
The never-setting sun of your auspicious fame is fully risen.
May the white light of auspiciousness pervade everything.

Southern clouds of goodness fill the sky.
They rain down the goodness of holy dharma.
The glorious euphony of goodness spreads everywhere.
May goodness rise higher than the midday sun.

The sun of holy dharma shines from the zenith.
The new moon of love spreads its feast,
Surrounded by the twinkling ocean of harmony’s starts.
May the teachings of Karmapa, beings’ protector, flourish.

The vast ocean of your intellect is fearlessly confident.
Lion of Eloquence, master of a splendid ocean of tradition,
You fill the dharmadhatu.
May the teachings of the three times’ victors flourish.

Single eye dispelling beings’ darkness,
My guru, embodiment of all vistors.
May your teachings, your wise tradition, flourish.
Lion of Eloquence, may your activity flourish.

Force of goodness, you embody all the three times’ yidams.
Your wise tradition includes all of the eighty-four thousand teachings.
Lion of holt dharma’s Eloquence, may you flourish.
May your mind and mine be auspiciously mixed.

Lion of Eloquence appearing as my lord guru,
May you remain among us for a hundred kalpas.
May your activity, beings’ benefit, reach everywhere.
May the wishes of Karmapa, beings’ protector, be fulfilled.

Preceded by that veneration,
1. At Thrangu Tashi Yangtse, this exellecnt place where the courageous bodhisattva gave away his body;
2. At this excellent time, the sixth day of the tenth month, representing the six perfections and the ten stages;
3. You, the excellent teacher, my guru, the overlord of all families and mandalas whose name is difficult to utter, Karma Lodrö Ringluk Maway Senge [Karma Intelligent Tradition Lion of Eloqnece];
4. Amid this excellent retinue, an ocean of the sangha, threefold vajra holders who uphold the three vows and the three pitakas;
5. While enjoying this excellent holy dharma, as in a golden age, your revelation of the great accomplishment mandala of the victor Amitayus;
I, the worst of your devoted disciples, called Bardor Tulku, accompanied by Sönam Chötso, offer you little flowers of gold and silver along with fine divine fabric. We respectfully present these offerings, corresponding in number to the three jewels, as supports for our prayers: May your benefit to beings flourish! May all your activity increase! May your life be as enduring as a vajra!

Hear our prayers! Never let me or any of your disciples throughout space escape the vast expanse of your omniscience. Hear us! Hear us!

Offered along with countless devoted prostrations.

Long-life prayer for Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche
Om Svasti Guru Namoye!

You’ve the wisdom to rekindle the low fire of the teachings.
You’ve the kindness to nurture, as your children, holders of the teachings.
You’ve the power to properly uphold the teachings.
Great torch of the teachings: I pray that you remain.

You’ve insight free from fixation on a self.
You’ve skill free from dualism toward others.
With great kindness, you nurture everyone as your children.
Lord, I pray that your lotus-feet long remain firm.

The teachings’ flame is relit on the peak of a western mountain.
The banner of euphonic fame flutters in every direction.
You are the son who fulfills Lama Mipham’s aspirations.
I pray that you remain, embodiment of the Lion of Eloquence.

This was written spontaneously by Pal Traktung Jikdral Dongay Drayang Dechen Kunzang Barway Dorje, the worst of your disciples, in the Open Door of Dharma, the upper part of Puntsok Tashi Kyilwa Guest House, at the top of Thrangu Tashi Chöling, the seat you have raised at Namo Buddha. May virtue and goodness flourish!
