HH LETTER TO THE SUPPORTERS OF THE RAKTRUL MONASTARY
The monastery founded by the emanated Terton* Barway Dorje in Sholda, east Tibet, was given the name Karma Tenpa Tagyay Ling [Garden of the Expansion of the Karmapa's Doctrine] by the XVth Gyalwang Karmapa, Kakyap Dorje. Since it maintained a flourishing and independent tradition of study and practice, the monastery's name was fitting. However, when Buddism was threatened throughout Tibet, this monastery, like so many, was distroyed. Only its name remained.
Subsequently, faithful persons connected to the monastery rebuilt it through their own devotion and with great exertion. In the hope that it will fourish, and since the creation of such an environment for study and practice require financial support, the Raktrul Foundation, a non-profit, charitable corporation, has been established. I ask all those, Buddhist or not, who have an open-minded appreciation of Buddhism and wish to make meaningful use of ilusory prosperity, to help in whatever way and to whatever extent the wish.
An ocean is made up of drops of water, It is said:
Once a drop of water has fallen into a great ocean
it will last as longa as the ocean last.
In that way, a small contribution made with pure intent and applicaiton will lead to a vast accumulation of merit. I therefore ask all to contribute whatever they can. I make the earnest aspiration that all contributions serve their envisioned purpose and that all virtue accumulated serve to establish all in the state of omniscient Buddhahood.
